Honey Jalapeno Salmon

Salmon is a weekly staple in our house, so I’m always looking for different ways to prepare it. During the week I want a recipe that’s quick, yet flavorful, and that could pair well with a simple veggie side dish. This sweet, zesty and spicy honey jalapeno salmon is the perfect 20 minute meal to serve with rice, roasted potatoes or couscous.

The salmon fillets are seasoned with a simple spice blend, then seared in olive oil until crispy. They tangy jalapeno sauce is made in the same pan, then cooked with the salmon until the fish is cooked through.

How to make honey jalapeno salmon

The ingredients for this recipe are so minimal, and likely ones you already have around! Here’s what you’ll need to make this delicious salmon recipe:

  • Salmon fillets- you can use skinless, or keep the skin on depending on your preference
  • Basic spices, like paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper
  • Butter- feel free to use a dairy-free butter if needed
  • Honey- regular honey works great, but I like taking it up a notch by using a hot honey
  • Jalapeno pepper
  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Chopped parsley
  1. Season the salmon fillets and cook in olive oil on both sides to brown
  2. Remove the salmon from the pan, then saute the chopped jalapeno peppers
  3. Add in the butter, honey, lemon juice and salt & pepper to create the sauce
  4. Place the salmon fillets back in to finish cooking in the sauce

The zesty jalapeno butter sauce pairs so well with the crispy salmon. It’s truly the perfect weeknight meal.

This recipe is easy to make, so delicious, and the perfect way to spice up your salmon! If you’re looking for more fish recipes, be sure to check out the other salmon recipes I have on my blog and Instagram.

Ingredients

  • 3 -4 salmon fillets, about 4 oz each
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Honey Jalapeno Sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter, use dairy-free if needed
  • 1 tbsp honey, I used a spicy hot honey
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 jalapeno pepper, half sliced into rounds, half finely diced
  • Salt + pepper
  • Fresh chopped parsley, to top

Serve with

  • Honey Mustard Smashed Potatoes
  • Roasted Vegetable Pearl Couscous
  • Chickpea Date Quinoa Salad

Directions

  1. Season the salmon fillets with the paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a medium sized pan on medium heat, then add in the tbsp of olive oil. Place your salmon fillets into the pan and let them sear for about 3-4 minutes before flipping. If you eat the skin and want a crispy skin, place the salmon skin side down into the pan first.
  3. After about 4 minutes, flip the salmon and let the other side cook for another 3 minutes. It will continue cooking in the sauce at the end, so it doesn’t need to be fully cooked through.
  4. Remove the salmon from the pan and set it aside.
  5. To the same pan you cooked the salmon, add in the diced jalapeno and cook on medium heat for 1 minute.
  6. Next add in the butter, honey, and juice from 1/2 a lemon with a pinch of salt and pepper and cook for another 2 minutes until the butter melts and the sauce thickens.
  7. Add the salmon fillets back into the pan, and squeeze the remaining half lemon over the fish. Garnish with the jalapeno slices and parsley and let the salmon cook in the sauce for about 2-3 more minutes, until its cooked to your liking. Spoon the sauce over the fish while it continues to cook.

So good! I often just cook the salmon in the air fryer and then add it to the pan with the jalapeño butter to rest, coat it with butter, then serve. Tonight I even made it with chicken breast instead because the salmon I bought was bad. It was still a hit! Great recipe.
