Firecracker tofu

If you’re looking to incorporate more tofu into your diet, this firecracker tofu recipe is a delicious way to start. Its mildly sweet and spicy, and pairs so well with a side of rice and stir-fried veggies.

The tofu gets the perfect crisp in the oven, and is tossed in a sticky firecracker sauce made with just a few simple ingredients.

Tofu is a weekly staple in our house, so I’m always changing up how I prepare it. Baking it with tapioca flour is my go-to method for crispy tofu. It saves me time from needing to press the tofu, and still yields delicious results.

The tofu is easy to whip up, and can be flavored with any sauce you like. But this firecracker sauces is one of my faves!

How to make firecracker tofu

To make this dish, you start off by seasoning your tofu with soy sauce, garlic powder and tapioca flour. The tapioca flour will help get it crispy while it bakes in the oven.

Here’s what you’ll need to make the firecracker sauce:

  • low-sodium soy sauce or coconut aminos
  • crushed garlic
  • coconut sugar
  • sriracha
  • red pepper flakes
  • scallions
  • salt & pepper
  • tapioca flour or cornstarch

Once the tofu is nice and crispy, thicken the sauce in a pan over the stove then toss it together with your tofu.
