This creamy, vegan tahini pasta stir fry is the ultimate comfort food. It’s a simple, flavorful dish that comes together in just about 30 minutes, and hits the spot every time when you’re craving a cozy bowl of pasta.

As someone who grew up on tahini, I love finding new ways to cook with it. Tahini is so versatile, and can be used in both sweet and savory dishes. Its creaminess took this pasta dish to the next level!
Tahini is made from ground sesame seeds. It’s rich and creamy, and works so well as the main ingredient in this pasta sauce.

How to make creamy tahini pasta sauce
For the sauce, you’ll need just a few simple ingredients:
- Tahini- you want to look for 100% pure ground sesame when buying your tahini. Most large grocery stores will have them in the nut butter aisle, or with the ethnic foods.
- Coconut aminos– I always recommend coconut aminos over soy sauce because it has a slightly sweeter taste and less sodium. If it’s hard to come by, low-sodium soy sauce can always be substituted instead- just be mindful of the added salt in the dish!
- Pasta water– I love using pasta water in sauce recipes because it helps thicken the sauce
- Maple syrup
- Garlic
- Sesame seeds
- Salt
- Red pepper flakes– optional, but we love the heat!
This dish would be delicious on its own, or served with your favorite protein. You can substitute a bean-based pasta to pack in some extra fiber + protein, and throw in any vegetables you have lying around.

This dish is so delicious, and 100% customizable, which makes it that much better! Let me know if you try it. Be sure to tag me on Instagram so I can see your creations.
Made this for dinner last night and it was delicious! I’ve never added tahini to a pasta before and this creaminess was unlike other pastas I’ve made – it’s uniquely nutty, smooth and savory. The mix of soy sauce + tahini along with the other spices made for a delicious pasta that we will definitely be making again. Thank you again Gal.
Thank you, Manpreet! I’m happy to hear you enjoyed it 🙂
