Serve it with your favorite sides and rice for a delicious and healthy weeknight meal.

sweet chili salmon bites

Salmon and rice is one of my favorite comfort meals during the week. It’s a great way to pack in omega-3 fats and protein, and can be prepared in endless amounts of ways.

These sweet chili salmon bites stay fork tender as they simmer in the homemade sauce, and truly pack in all of my favorite flavors.

How to make sweet chili salmon bites

  1. Start by cubing your skinless salmon into 1″ cubes, and marinating them in coconut aminos, salt and garlic powder for about 20 minutes.
  2. Next, sear them on a hot pan for about 3 minutes per side.
  3. Once browned, add in your homemade sweet chili sauce and let the sauce simmer until thick
  4. Garnish with chopped chives or scallions, and serve over your favorite veggies and side of rice

If you wanted to prepare this recipe using a whole fillet of salmon, marinate it in the coconut aminos, salt and garlic powder for 20 minutes, then bake it in the sweet chili sauce for about 18 minutes on 375 F, or until the salmon is cooked through and the sauce is thick!

This recipe is sweet, simple, and so delicious! I can’t wait for you guys to try it.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 -2 lbs salmon, skin removed
  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos or low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt (leave out if using soy sauce)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Sweet Chili Sauce

  • 2 tbsp chili garlic sauce or sambal oelek, or substitute harissa
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp tapioca flour
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • Pinch salt

Directions

  1. Cut your salmon into 1″ cubes and add it to a bowl with the coconut aminos, salt and garlic powder. Let that marinate for 20 minutes.
  2. While the salmon marinates, prepare your sauce by combining all of the ingredients together in a small bowl and whisking it together until smooth
  3. Heat a large skillet on medium heat then add in the olive oil. Cook the salmon cubes for about 10-12 minutes total, rotating them every 3 minutes to brown all sides.
  4. Once the salmon is done, pour the sauce in and let it simmer on a medium/low flame until it begins to thicken, for about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Garnish with chopped scallions or chives and serve over your favorite rice!
  6. **If you wanted to prepare this recipe using a 1.5-2 lb fillet of salmon instead of cutting into cubes, marinate it in an oven safe dish for 20 minutes in the coconut aminos, salt and garlic powder. Then pour the sweet chili sauce over it and bake it on 375 F for about 18-22 minutes, depending on the size of your fish. You can broil it for the last 2-3 minutes to brown the top.
