Serves: 6 servings
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs salmon
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Harissa Silan Marinade

  • 2 tbsp harissa (Tunisian hot chili pepper paste)
  • 2 tbsp date syrup (silan), or substitute maple syrup/honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 an orange, thinly sliced
  • Fresh parsley, to top
  • Fresh lemon juice, to top

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 F
  2. Place the salmon fillet on a parchment lined baking sheet or baking dish. Drizzle with the tbsp of olive oil and season with the paprika, salt and pepper. Rub the spices into the salmon. I like to place orange slices underneath the salmon for garnish
  3. In a small bowl, combine the harissa, date syrup, garlic and salt. Mix together to form a sauce
  4. Pour the marinade over the salmon and brush it over the top to evenly spread it. If you wanted to prepare this ahead of time, you can leave the salmon marinating in the harissa date sauce in the fridge for a few hours.
  5. Top the salmon with chopped fresh parsley. Bake the salmon for about 18-22 minutes, then broil for 2 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on size and thickness of the salmon.
  6. Once ready, top with a squeeze of lemon juice
